Focus Up doesn't collect your data
The short version
Focus Up has no account, no ads, no analytics and no third-party code. The app never connects to the internet, so nothing you do in it is sent to us or anyone else.
What stays on your iPhone
To work, Focus Up saves a few things in its own storage on your device:
- The apps, categories and websites you chose to block
- Your lock schedules
- A one-way fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of your tag's serial number, so the app can recognize the tag later
- Your past lock sessions, used for the stats screen
- When you used an emergency unlock, so the weekly limit works
This data is shared only with Focus Up's own extensions on the same device, which apply the blocks and run schedules. None of it leaves your phone.
Screen Time
Focus Up uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block apps. When you pick apps to block, iOS gives Focus Up anonymous tokens instead of app names, so we can't see which apps you picked. Focus Up doesn't read your Screen Time activity or usage history.
NFC tags
Focus Up reads only your tag's built-in serial number. It never reads or changes anything else stored on the tag.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Focus Up sends them from your phone itself. They're only used so the "Unlock with tag" button on the block screen can bring you back to the app. No push service is involved.
Deleting your data
Deleting Focus Up removes everything it saved. You can also turn off its Screen Time access any time in Settings > Screen Time.
Children
Focus Up isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
